INGREDIENTS :
Butter (Room Temperature) 125 gms
Sugar 2 ½ cup
Eggs 2
Vanilla Essence 1 tsp
Cocoa 2/3cup
Water ½ cup
Vinegar /lime juice 2tsp
Milk 1 cup
Flour 1 ¾ cup
Baking Powder 1 tsp
Cooking Soda 1 tsp
Method:
In a large bowl mix butter, sugar and eggs along with vanilla essence till the ingredients are all smooth and creamy.
Boil water and mix it with cocoa powder. Add this cocoa mixture to the bowl (of butter, eggs, sugar and essence) and mix well till the paste gets a uniform chocolate colour.
Boil the milk and to it add the vinegar and allow the milk to curdle.
Note: It is important that the milk curdles. Once done keep aside.
Sift together the flour, baking powder and the cooking soda at least three times so that the dry ingredients are well mixed.
Mix one spoon of the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternatively with the curdled milk. Keep adding both till everything is over.
Grease a cake tin and pour the mixture. Cook it in a preheated oven for atleast an hour or till done. To check if the cake is cooked take a fork and poke the cake in the middle.
