Sania Mirza is the new icon of Indian sports. She is the first Indian women tennis player, who is knocking the door to reach on top on tennis court, she became the Second Indian girl after Nirupama Sanjeev (vaidyanathan) to play in the Grand Slam tournament at the Australian open.
Sania not only reached the third round at the Australian open which is a record for an Indian girl in the grand Slam but also raised the hopes of many upcoming tennis players in India. Although Sania lost to the eventual champion Serena Williams in the third round, she proved that she is a real fighter. After the match Serena flourished the words of praise for Sania.
Whisper of Sania's success was still in the air, and then she added one more title in her kitty. In spite of injury Sania won the WTA tennis title in her hometown Hyderabad. Champions are born not made. Sania has all the qualities of a champion. Despite sore ankle she played in the WTA tennis championship. She ignored her injury; this proves how hungry she is for Sania for success.
Martina Navratilova praised Sania's play stating that, "Sania could make her place among top fifty". Sania has made the Indian tennis fan proud. She has shown the rays of hopes for others to adopt tennis. She has to go a long way for tasting further success at the highest level. In today's professional tennis the margin of error is less. That is why no player would like to take anything easily. To win a grand Slam is a dream for Sania at this moment. She is just 18; she can further improve her game to match the top players of the world. Coming years are important for Sania. At present she is far behind than the leading players of the world.
If Sania wants to come parallel to top players then she has to work hard and to some extent keep herself away form commercial advertisements too. Tennis is a game which demands hundred percent from a player.
Sania started her career with a high note when she won the junior double Wimbledon. Can she stand on podium of any grand Slam? She has talent and willpower with cool head to overcome in the tight situation. The most important thing is that how well she can imply herself in the coming tournaments. If she manages to overcome her weaknesses quickly then there is no doubt that she has a very bright career ahead. She will not only entertain the spectators with her game but also make the country proud in coming years.
