What is the first thing that comes in your mind when you think of a PSYCHOLOGIST? A doctor who treats mentally ill people. And how would you react when someone would tell you to take your child to a child psychologist…? You would probably scream and will say MY CHILD IS NOT CRAZY.
But, who defines that a child crazy child needs a psychologist? By the time we become parents we tend to forget that hoe were we as a child. How can you forget that when you were a child you were taken for granted, your vote for any demand never counted.
You have seen you child’s erratic behavior and punished him for that. But, how many times have you given thought that why is my child behaving likes that? I guess never! Suppose he wants to go to a friend’s party which you think is not important, but have you ever thought for him it could have been the best party in the world? Just because it is not important for you doesn’t mean it’s not important for him.
And then you blame him for his erratic behavior, and deprive him of a psychologist who can take better care of this behavior than you. After all he is the specialist and has spent at least 20 years of his life studying this topic.
Habitually a parent may be too busy or else engaged to listen to their child, and while they may not appreciate it, their child may feel tremendously hurt by what they recognize as a snub. Yes, they will pardon you and go on to play away, but when it happens a second, third and fourth time, it will certainly show up in their traits development. A child psychologist will be able to bring this to your concentration.
A psychologist not only guides the child but also gives basic information about correct parenting. After all a good direction of parenting always helps. Child psychologists cram how children learn, how diverse behaviors expand, the impact of milieu on budding children, and many other topics.
Adolescent lack the aptitude to examine their troubles in the same way that adults do, so specific therapy techniques may be engaged that will help the child psychologist best address the forthcoming abilities of the child. Talk therapy is the most effective and efficient treatment that doctors gives to the child.
Not many parents break the old school of thought and take their child to a psychologist but I don't believe that something should be 'wrong' with your child.
