I am 13 year old and really short than my friends. One of my friends asked me to masturbate to increase my height. He said it activates the hormones. However, after doing it, I feel miserably guilty. In fact, a few days back I read somewhere that masturbation hinders growth and is a type of disease! Please help.
You aren’t the only one who has asked counselors this question, nor are you the only one doing it.
Masturbation is a perfectly secure way of satisfying your sexual desire. Though, a few days back, Baba Ramdev said that masturbation is a form of disease and he can cure it.
It is NOT a disease; until and unless, you feel addicted to it or are on a marathon run. (I have encountered such cases, so even if you say you are on a marathon run I wouldn’t be surprised!)
I have heard many absurd myths related to masturbation, however, the one by your friend wins it hands down. Dear, masturbation doesn’t affect you height, cause pimples or make you look mature.
The guilt you feel is because you ‘think’ that you are doing something wrong. Masturbation is second most safe method to please yourself, the first being fantasizing. It is perfectly normal to do it, just get rid of the guilt feeling.
However, if you wish to get rid of this habit, then perhaps, the first and foremost thing you need is determination.
Whenever you find the urge growing inside, try to divert your attention to anything else. You can start reading, or even call up friends.
The last time I suggested this to someone, he ended up calling his girlfriend, and that intensified his urge. Therefore, it would be great if you could call someone who would help you “divert “ your attention.
It might sound like a very weird idea, but try to wear layers of clothes (for a few weeks) when you go to sleep. The more clothes you would need to get rid of to satisfy the urge, the lesser would be the intensity.
In short, intensity is inversely proportional to the layers of clothes. During summers, you can just wear pajamas, and tie the knot ‘really’ tight. Both the above mentioned tricks will give you the time-advantage.
Keep away from pornography. If you are in the habit of watching porn online, then install an “internet nanny” on your PC. But if you are one of those who believe to keep porn as “collectors’ item,” then either throw them away, or ask any of your closest friends to help you in hiding them.
Try yoga and meditation to develop a grip on your life. Though, I am not a very spiritual person myself, many people claim that having a calmer mind will help you in overcoming this. Try it, after all this won’t have any side-effects.
