Starting with the always talked about Little Black Dress (LBD). Very few fashion innovations have created the madness and the sensationalism that this little piece of clothing has garnered.

The LBD was invented by Coco Chanel in 1926. Although women used to wear black dresses even before the 1920's, it was popularised by Mademoiselle Chanel and transformed into an item of power and sensuality.

You often find the LBD when you're least expecting to find it. It could be staring at you from the most inconspicuous display window or looking down upon you from the well-lit glam designer store on high street. The same would apply to the classic black evening skirt or that cocktail churidar with westernised kurta that you can wear 'oh! so often'. So grab it at your first chance - price is immaterial. The rules of fashion math justify the price - cost divided by the number of times it is worn = priceless! The LBD will be there for you time after time and decade after decade (unless you change sizes).

Choose the best fabric that you can find that's not too shiny or too tight. You do not want to attract attention to this classic outfit. It is you who will be the focus of the evening. The LBD will just take a bow and let you be in the limelight.

Treat your LBD like a blank canvas and accessorise it differently everytime you use it. It'll give you your money's worth. It has to be comfortable and make your curves look great or hide the unwanted ones, whichever the case.

The more adventurously you accessorise it, the better it'll look. A dash of bling, stunning stilletoes, Victorian earrings or just the right brooch to give it that dangerous edge.
