There is a huge campaign on AIDS to prevent spread of Aids among people. Awareness campaign has all the ingredients, how Aids is contrcted, the way its spread the precautions we should take & the repurcussions of carelessness.
The largest reason for spread of AIDS is unprotected sex. So we have condoms, have precautions like have sex with just one partner, be faithful. There is huge government campaign, movements, ads about it.
But what about marriage, have we targeted it in any way. After marriage there is no term called safe sex. People have sex without condoms because thenmarried they have no social fears, its legal & no fear of getting pregnant.
But being married is not in any way a antinibotic for aids. Even if you are faithful after marriage it dosen't matter. You could have contracted it through prior sexual relations or infected syringe or even blood transfusion. You may not know it.
And after marriage you pass it to your spouse & be the reason for destruction of an innocent person's life because you didn't get an HIV test done before marriage.
In the campaign to stop Aids it is very important for govt. to make Hiv tests mandatory for any couple who wants to get married as they are not going to use condom for their entire married life.
And sometimes aids get passed from parents to the child, again endangering a new life. HIV tests are required to help couples make more "informed choices" when choosing marriage partners.
Because we don't want anyone to be kept in the dark about their partner. However if a person wants to marry a person is a HIV + that is their personal decision & they have to take the necessary precautions. But one should not be unsuspecting victim.
Be it love marriage or arranged there should be no shame or hesitation on your part to demand for a prior HIV test as it is your right, your future, & your life.
