I'm 22, and I begun smoking when I was 16. My friends initially told me that smoking helps you reduce weight. But now, my boyfriend wants me to quit. Social peers and pressures...you know. Will I gain weight if i quit smoking?
This is such a common problem these days with all the youngsters. Temme one thing...what's the point to fit into those extremely skinny jeans if you have to carry a CPR along everywhere. Are those few extra pound, a good reason enough to kill yourself?
Practically, you would not put weight if you quit smoking. Lots of people continue to smoke all their lives because they are terrified to put on weight. Look, a very small percentage of weight is increased if you quit smoking, but that slight increase doesn't even show on you. The only reason why people put on weight after quitting is because they leave one addiction of "smoking" just to get on to another addcition of "overeating".
Most of the people, who try to quit, quit it at the cost of having unhealthy food, or binging onto various temptations, which will obviously increase the metabolic girth of your waist. Some people who smoke after dinner to avoid the dessert craving, get back to the high cal-food once they quit. Well, if you include positive lifestyle changes, you will never put on weight, be it with or without smoking.
My friend who was a chain smoker for 20 years told me, that she had forgotten how plenty of foods taste. That's what smoking took away from her. One can be a healthy, slim and active non-smoker. Smoking doesn't really cut down on your flab, rathe cuts down steeply on your years on the earth. In the end, the call is yours and so is the life!
