Play - Few games kids can play at home


The summer is here yet again! Two months of summer break is all a kid needs to have that unforgettable Summer of '09. Here are the games one could play to beat the summer's glaring heat. 

 

cards_4001.     Card game

A card game is played with a deck of cards intended for that game that are identical in size and shape. Each card has two sides, the face and the back. The backs of the cards in a deck are indistinguishable, preventing any player who cannot see the card's face from knowing its value.

In puzzle one is intended to piece together objects (puzzle pieces) in a logical way in order to come up with the desired shape, picture or solution.

Billiards is today most known as pocket billiards, or pool, which is evolved from a lawn game similar to the croquet played some-time during the 15th century in Northern Europe and probably in France. The balls are struck, with wooden sticks called "maces."

Table tennis is a two or four players game. The game takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Players must allow a ball played toward them only one bounce on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side.

Chinese Checkers is a board game that can be played by two to six people. It is a variant of Halma; the objective of the game is to place one's pieces in the corner opposite their starting position of a pitted hexagram by single moves or jumps over other pieces.

Monopoly is a in which players compete to acquire wealth through stylized economic activity involving the buying, renting, and trading of properties using play money, as players take turns moving around the board according to the roll of the dice. The object of the game is to own every piece of property and drive the other players into bankruptcy.

It is a gambling game of unknown origin. Players mark off numbers on a ticket as they are randomly called out, in order to achieve a winning combination. It has numbers from 1to 99.

A crossword is a word puzzle that normally takes the form of a square or rectangular grid of black and white squares. The goal is to fill the white squares with letters, forming words or phrases, by solving clues which lead to the answers.

16.   Scrabble

Scrabble is a word game in which two to four players score points by forming words from individual lettered tiles on a game board marked with a 15-by-15 grid. The words are formed across and down in crossword fashion and must appear in a standard dictionary.

19.   Dart

Darts refers to a variety of related sports, in which darts are thrown at a circular target (dartboard) hung on a wall.

20.   Musical Chair

The game starts with a number of chairs one fewer than the number of players; the chairs are arranged in a circle (or other closed figure if space is constrained; a double line is sometimes used) facing outward. A non-playing individual plays music. While the music is playing, the players walk in unison around the chairs. When the music is shut off, everyone must race to sit down in one of the chairs. The player who is left without a chair is eliminated, and one chair is also removed. The music resumes and the cycle repeats until there is only one player left, who is the winner.
