Capturing the positive vibesWith Chinese products flooding our markets, the average Indian shopper has been bombarded with toys, crockery, clothes and other knick-knacks. Superstitious, as many of us generally are, Feng Shui items have managed to catch our fancy. And why not? A bit of extra luck is always handy.
“Feng Shui enhances our life energy (chi) and diminishes the negative ones. There are three levels of luck: Heaven Luck, Man Luck and Earth Luck and Feng Shui is aimed at enhancing and improving your Luck,” explains Mohan Deep, a noted Feng Shui practitioner in India. “Feng Shui is not just about Chinese objects and symbols, but also colours and images. Placement also plays a major role in Feng Shui," he says.
So, what do some of the most common Feng Shui products signify? Renuka Kajale finds out.
Wind chimes: These are a Feng Shui sound cure and are believed to enhance positive energy in your home environment. They are believed to bring in harmony and good luck. Wind chimes are available in 5, 6 or 8 rods. 5 rods restrain bad luck (negative chi/energy) while 6 & 8 rods are believed to bring good luck.
Dragon: One of the most revered symbols in Feng Shui, dragons are believed to represent strength, goodness, and the spirit of change and transformation.
Money Frog/Three legged toad: One of the most significant items in Feng Shui, the Money Frog is associated with monetary gain, wealth and good health. It can be placed at either side of the entrance inside your premise, with the toads’ heads looking inwards and not outwards.
Laughing Buddha: It signifies happiness in Feng Shui. It is believed that the Laughing Buddha rids the environment of inauspicious chi, and brings prosperity wealth and good luck. It can be placed in living rooms and office desk.
But are all those Feng Shui items that you come across everywhere these days authentic and original? “Most of these products you may find in the market will give you the desired benefits only when they are energised by a Feng Shui expert,” says Mohan Deep, who claims to be the only Feng Shui practitioner in India who also paints for his clients. And like the Feng Shui coins and other products, he apparently energises his paintings as well.
